🙂
I can’t stop grinning. Life hasn’t been better.
1. I’m on night shift. So not too much work.
2. I met Shah Rukh Khan yesterday. It’s been my dream to shake hands with the man who shares my initials (My office calls me SRK after the initials of my official name Sudhish R Kamath). My interview appears on Wednesday. Check this space for the complete unedited version.
3. I’m most likely to be on my way to Australia for a week, if my visa comes through. Cuz my office is sending me on an assignment there. I’m looking forward to a mini-vacation.
4. I entered finals of www.stickcricket.com and lost only by 34 runs chasing 201 in 10 overs. And I beat my own record of scoring 238 for two in ten overs in practice mode with two centurions (Sehwag 113 and Gambhir 112).
5. Finished first rough cut of the movie, thanks to Vijay, who’s been at it in spite of his personal lows. And, I’m getting my old music director back on the project. Hopefully, this will help build bridges with a few old friends who had to opt out of the film because of our differences.
6. A couple of my old friends are in town — Gij and Raghu. Been able to spend some time with Raghu, hope to do the same with Gij, if she manages to finish her shoot on time.
7. I seem to have adequate resources to buy an Apple G4 iBook. Quite excited about the Mac. All I need is a stopover in Singapore on my way back from Australia. I just pray that is possible.
8. Been single, content and independent. Freedom… Yay!!
9. Had quite a few people say nice things about my reviews and articles during the past fortnight, starting with Mani Ratnam himself. Thank you for the feedback. Much appreciate.
10. And hey, this blog crossed one lakh hits a day or two ago!! Thank you all… each and every one of you. Even you bad-mouthing anonymous fuckers… thank you for contributing to CounterMan! Finally, thank you Statcounter, for keeping tab of these anonymous sons of anonymous fathers.
Mac-a??? poiyum poiyum oru mac-a?? enna aachu sudhish? macs ellam waste pa.everyone swears at bill gates, but still swaer by their windows machine ma.macs ellam novicesku thaan. windows use panna dhil venum.adhu illathavangalukku thaan macintosh. naan solradha solliten.appuram unga decision.
Sudhish, unless you really need the iBook right now, hold off!! Apple is switching to Intel chips and by all indications, the new Intel systems will be *much* faster.
If you definitely need a mac right now and can settle for a desktop, get the Mac Mini with 80GB and Wireless/Bluetooth built-in.
Good to hear about your probable Oz visit, if you are headed Sydney-side Arjun will be there October onwards, he is here right now 🙂
nice going suderdude
welcome to the cult of mac..the awesome OS X alone is worth it.
at the risk of starting a long techie discussion, waiting another year(probably more) for intel macs doesnt make sense. if you wait for 5 more years, you’ll get an even faster machine.
i thought u said ur movie comes out in aug..well there is still some time left..i’ll wait
happy touring, mate
Goody Suds!
And thats simply awesome! Australia! Singapore! the works! And a new toy! Yeah, I can see why you no miss no hawt-chick! I mean, who would?
So you met SRK? And actually shook hands? Well, I would ask a lot of que right here, but a certain diffidence, delicacy of spirit prevents me,….still, wish could hear it all someday…and I promise I will do better than stare at the blank wall, like a vacuous sheep and sigh every few seconds, when you describe my heart-throb in flesh and blood……
Shelob.
Hey sud…Australia eh?..Awesome…wat kinda assignment da?… n met SRK, eh… how was he? n MR told u dat ur piece was good eh…awesome..did he refer to any specific article or was it a general compliment? U’re doing super in life da… keep it up.. Srinivas.

Hey SRK!
Congrats!
Come to think of it, I too am a BIG fan of your reviews in The Hindu. Having grown up on a staple diet of The Hindu, I found it difficult to get away from the paper when I moved to Virginia. My first experience with Hindu-like writing was your blog. I just love it and keep coming everyday to check if theres a new post. Infact I think I contribute atleast 10 hits per week to you blog(Maniacal Laughter). Keep up the good work ma!
Shilpa
PS: I am HUGE fan of journalists too.
Dey sudhish…heard Murugan is in australia – this comes from suku,
and I have been getting only his voicemail here.
you dont reply too fast to emails either so I thought could get a hold of you this way.
MAC is better man, you can load windows on it, I am not sure if you can go the other way round.
good choice.
apalika parpom
Hey!
R u coming to Australia to cover A.R.Rahman’s concerts in Sydney and Melbourne??? I may attend the Sydney concert. If u r coming for that… may be we cud meet. Anywayz, I am glad that u have so many things to grin about – I have none at the moment 😦 😦
Ram (Speech is Golden)
Wow! Mani Ratnam himself appreciated ur reviews..:) Great..:) Well deserved appreciation..
Read the interview of SRK in the paper.. cool one… post the unedited one soon..:)
enjoy maadi @ australia!
That was a deadly interview…very SRK…he seems to exude that kind of charisma on-screen too, isnt it? And the que were very incisive too! Both most of all, I liked the way you had conveyed the qucik-silver-speed of the whole interview…kudos! It was a really nice take Suds!
Shelob.
PS…most of all loved the intro and the spaghetti-hour-glass-fig!
“Been single, content and independent. Freedom… Yay!!”
Aahh! Not after your tour to Australia, Sudhish! Certainly not 😉
What with…err…!!
hmm…I match Mani’s likes again.
BTW, whatever I wrote about your review was true. Never knew Mani appreciated it much, by then.
heheheee yenjaaai 🙂
vishnu…
im gonna use a laptop for typing text, making presentations with a lil video in them, sending emails and stuff… maybe just a lil video editing for editing promos on the machine… very rarely though.
I think it doesnt matter if i use Mac or Windows but an iBook looks soooo cool! Im smitten! 😀
arvinda kissna,
i’ll buy a Power Book maybe next year…
The iBook is for the journalist, not the filmmaker.
Maybe the filmmaker wd use it to make some presentations… but certainly not for hardcore video editing!
And i need Sridhar’s contact in Sydney… pass it to me! Or i wont have acco for my holiday!! 🙂
catcharun,
movie will take time da.
we just finished the ruff cut.
so much work left on it… honestly, im just able to do it in my freetime and i dont get enuff of it these days…
also, the editor needs to be free when i am… so there!
it shd be ready next year! 😉
ha ha!
srinivas:
Im going to australia on invitation from Foxtel… to cover operations of Space TV, the direct to Home service. They are soon launching in India (STAR-Tata partnership).
And MR said he liked my story on the making of Netru Indru Nalai. He was so keen to read it and clear it before it appears and I had to put my foot down and say: I can’t do that. We never let anyone read what we write about them before it actually appears.
So it did make me smile to find out he liked it a lot.
Peelamedu_Bulls:
I just watched My Wife’s Murder only yesterday.
Loved it.
Dark, cold and riveting. Anil Kapoor’s second-coming, maybe his best till date.
Hope to get time to post a detailed review.
Cheers man!
Kaps:
I hope to be there during my break journey, they give some transit visa for a coupla hours. do mail me your number, wud love to meet up.

AG:

don’t worry, ill set up a system where u can download the movie from the official site itself!
I want more people to watch it. But do I let people download free or charge them a dollar? Dunno if thats possible or workable… if it doesnt, then you ll get it free!! at least u cant be too pissed off, since u got it free!!
he he!
vasanthi:
Yup, im rite up there. 🙂
sharad:
Yeah sharad, wat fuckers!! he he!
anti:

china:
Murugan is back to america.
he got back some 4-5 days ago.
im going in for the iBook unless some other expense comes up!

Ram:
I’m not coming for the concert. when is it?
im coming to foxtel headquarters.
are u in sydney? we can catch up anyway… mail me!
Cheers!
nithya:
illai ma, i dunno if he appreciates my reviews… dunno if he reads them either..
but he read what i wrote abt Netru Indru Nalai and loved it… cuz he initially was so freaked out with me hanging around the sets and taking down notes…he insisted on seeing on seeing the first draft and i refused to show him! so i was relieved when he did like what i wrote.
shelob:
thanks again but the hour glass figure was voluptous to say the least… i had a tough time taking my eyes of her… lets just say never has spaghetti been more saucier!
wise or otherwise:
May God bless you.
And all the loving angels you are sending me in Sydney!! 🙂
Thanks for putting me in safe hands! 😉
lazygeek:
thanks again for your kind words.
Like I just said a few comments ago, I dunno if MR reads my reviews but he sure did like what i wrote about the Netru Indru Nalai show… maybe he was just flattered… He wanted to take a look at my copy before it appeared and i had to politely turn it down saying we never ever let people read what we write about them, before it appears.
I was hanging around the sets and I could see him getting the jitters when i scribbled down notes. He said: “I’m scared… What are you writing?” I think he was bugged as well with me snooping around for he said: “Well, if you’re gonna be around for our meeting, at least contribute with ideas.”
And finally when i refused to show him, he must ve panicked…
The day the story finally appeared, he was quite pleased. for I got some 3 calls from Vandana of The Banyan that day, one specially after MR insisted to tell me he loved the story.
For those who are wondering what Im talking about, here it is:
http://www.hindu.com/mp/2005/08/04/stories/2005080400650100.htm
(and the guy you see in the pic accompanying the story, right above rajiv menon’s head is me… caught hanging around!) ha ha!
Thanks again lazy!
Cheers!
Lynnu:
Good to have you back kannu!! 🙂
But you never told me where u went, girl!!
And i can see you’ve started blogging again!! 🙂
For niche films, studios use Web site, blog ads
Movie studios typically advertise on television and in newspapers in search of the biggest possible opening-weekend audience.
Hey, you have a great blog here! Without doubt I will bookmark your site ! I have a health news letter site. It all but covers most things that correspond to health news letter issues. If you get the chance, kindly come and check it out.

Nah I am not his sister(I dont have a brother). There was a time when I was crazy about writing and wanted to take up literature. But parents’ concern for ‘settling well’ made me take up the engineering crap. Thankfully they couldn’t take out the reader in me…..
It takes guts to take up a profession like that. Thats why I admire writers, journalists and the like.
You have the best blog around. But theres one thing I feel bad about. You use Tamil sometimes…especially the titles sometimes…and thats when I get lost….dont understand a thing :))
Shilpa
shilpa:
awrite!
i’ll keep that in mind… backing up tamil with english translation that is..
And thanks for saying some really nice things there! 🙂
okay, now tell me, what dya want? 😉 it shall be done!
Hmm lets see if u do what u said you would 😉
So what are u upto these days? King Khan looks so small and insignificant in that picture(no offence intended)….doesnt inspire…as a role model is supposed to.
I am bored with conducting experiments on materials and trying to finish my thesis. Want a change.
Shilpa
shilpa:
everybody needs a change.
Personally, I change, like, twice a day.
once after bath and once when I get home. 😀
okie, that was a bad PJ… here’s a better one…
Ah! change? for how much? 😀
Ha ha!
Well, I just wound up night shift and I got two days off… so Im gonna put Google Talk to full use! 🙂 Tried it yet? It’s really cool…
P.S: someone post one more msg and make this 50 please! 😀
Wish granted! Here is the 50th.
Congrats Suderman…
Life ALWAYS has a reason to celebrate… 🙂 Take care!!!
