In Malaysia.
In transit for five and a half hours between 4.30 a.m. and 9.30 a.m.
Can’t get outta airport.
So i’m in good care of the business class lounge here. That reduces possibility of finding hawt chicks in malaysia to zero cuz only male business execs seem to be around at this hour. ha ha!
Thank you guys for the votes.
Wow! Nine for the bike. And just four for the iBook?
I do need the iBook for writing my scripts but I’m not gonna write a new script in the next few months cuz
a. That Four Letter Word will still take at least a coupla more months to finish.
b. The near-final draft for my second film Watcha Gonna Do is ready and it would be a long while before I start shoot on this.
c. Why would I write a script when I can go cross-country on my cruiser? 😀
Yes, I feel good now.
I booked that snazzy red (colour) Avenger on Monday morning, finished all paperwork. So the first thing Im gonna do when I come back is ride away into the sunset on East Coast Road…
I did take the bike for a test ride in the morning. And it’s super smooth (though I did keep goofing up on the gears used to Last Samurai’s all down gears… this one has one down and four up).
Like the line goes, it does make you… Feel Like God…
Im super excited abt my cruiser… 🙂
And as for the ibook… I guess it can wait for a few months… will surely pick one up in six months… Gonna start saving for that now that Ive blown away everything i saved up on the ibook as downpayment for the bike…
What simple needs we have huh? 😀

Trust Sud to make a good choice… fine choice Sud.. how much machine cost? n as a journ, u need to travel na… wats de mileage? Srinivas(will sign in as Rim from now on.)
Sudish,
Kudos on two fronts:
1. One for chosing the New Avenger over the iBook.
2. For your recent article covering the reaction among the student community after Anna University released its crazy-at-best mandate on dress codes.
I’m still rolling on teh floor laughing how on earth only Chennai can let this happen..and I’m equally saddened by the fact that these students put their heads down and took it.. Are we losing the rebels in our students? Did they all go “dumb” and Silent? Why haven’t they raised a finger except for voicing their concern to some media.. Why they have not protested on campus..why have they not quit classes? Why they have not indulged in a discussion with the University Management?
And above all, why hasn’t anyone gone to the Legal system seeking a ray of hope to stop this Madness unfurled by a Mad Man?
And I guess most of you, journos, haven’t crtically came down on Mr. DV even after the fact that its universally clear that he has assualted the Freedom of Speech (by banning the cellphones), freedom of expression (By banning those dresses, etc)..In my word, I think more of the media should emphasize the fact that the role of academicians stops with the classrooms..and byond that its none of their DAMN Business..
God Save Chennai..God Speed for you on your virgin ride along ECR.. be careful mate! I heard ECR is one of the most trecheorus (spelling??) roadways in TN..Good luck..
Sudhish!!! Sorry sorry for being away for so long! I was really busy and couldn’t read your BLOGS until today!
And BTW, another vote for AVENGER. I’m planning to buy one too! But then, still undecided. Pulsar is super cool too.
Do keep me posted on Sh***i and Ki** and also the road trip! Cannot wait to hear for you.
Have fun, dude! 😉
Typo alert: “Cannot wait for hear from you.”
I think u must go for the ibook. In case u arent aware the engine of Avenger is the same as that of a Pular 180 DTSi and is a high rpm one. I am still unable to figure out how a same engine can serve dual purpose of a street bike and a cruiser. Bajaj is taking the Indians for a ride 😉

Visithra:
It is a beautiful airport. And that s a beautiful picture!
But I found it claustrophobic cuz I was in malaysia and cudnt set out!
Shelob:
Yup, Boy image better than geek!

Naresh:

Peelamedu:
No no, Yo-Yo is REMO’s job…
Harish:
thanks pa!
srinivas:
no one buys a cruiser for mileage!! but fo academic interest only, it gives 45 which is pretty neat!
geronimothrust:
I dint find anything funny abt the dress code… absolute morons man these guys… they toned down the story! damn! anyway, thanks buddy!
wiseorotherwise:
spoke to miss india finally. 🙂
leavin to mel tomorrow morning.
shiva:
its no big secret, einstien! if they hadnt told u it was DTSi u wudnt have known, wud u?
and a 180 cc engine is decent enuff for a cruiser… its sufficient power and the ergonomics of the bike make for easy cruising… a cruiser is more abt the design, the power of 180 cc is decent enuff for Indian highways… its a very practical version… if u dont understand how an engine for the pulsar can be fitted for a cruiser, time to read some bike reviews… they all say its a great bike… actually fuck waht they say, i went for a test ride, the bike totally rocks!!! Smoooooooooooth is the word and the weight is something i can manage… cudnt ask for more…
but hey, i know u said that cuz u thot the “Taking for a ride” was a cool pun! 😉
have told little more than half a dozen ppl that am a beeg beeg fan of ur blog! and that includes some (beeg) ppl at work! (yours that is!) seriously, it gets only better!
I seem to be checking up ever so often to see whats new….
shelob.
Agreed i amnt a einstein related to bikes. And yes i wouldnt have know it if bajaj hadnt disclosed. No issues regarding the ergonomics or weight.Regarding power, a pulsar 180 DTSi has enough power that what’s delivered by a Royal Enfield 350 cc. The engine is a gem, a true innovation on the engine roads/ What i had mentioned was the rpm range of the engine. It’;s above 5000 rpm which is generally considered maximum for cruisers. What u expect in a cruiser is not an engine that zooms on the signal turning green, but something that can run for hours together at constant 60-70 kph without much strain on the engine. An engine with lower rpm range is more suited for this purpose. On the other hand if you intend to use it within the city, it shouldnt be a problem at all.And i am sure 99% of the avengers customers would be using it for commuting within the city and so bajaj wont be having any problems at all.
