I watched King Kong again last night and just loved it even more. And hated the sentimental portions just a little more. So those venturing to meet Kong, be warned of the mush quotient.
Meanwhile, the movie has opened to some deservingly fascinating reviews.
Rediff’s Raja Sen, who I met during IFFI, has the best I’ve read on the movie.
Samanth has turned in a neat review too. He seems to like the bonding between girl and ape.
If you head to Lazy’s site, you can see the pedestal he’s just put up for the big ape and his master resurrector.
Well, my own official review appeared today.
Considering that reviewers have been near unanimous about the movie, looks like the King is going to make your neighbourhood theatre his new home.

thanx for the review.i’m off to watch it.
Good “structured” review. Lead would have been better had u put one of those two classic lines in it(as Samanth had it). Will watch it asap..
sheks:
im sure u’ll have a blast!
rim:
dai dubukku… if i had, then both our leads wudda been similar… thank god they arent! 🙂
besides for me, the movie wasnt about the lines as much as it is about Peter Jackson’s childish heart, so why wud i put them in the lead?
even if i had to use a line to begin, i wudda used that one where Carl Denham says: “Monsters belong in B-movies.”

apart from kicking ur ass out of my space, thot i must tell u that only dumb asses think that they can get the same things from different genres.
when u watch a Hindi film, you do it cuz it has a connection with ur heart. it tugs at ur heart strings. melodrama in a bhansali movie is not outta place. it wud look silly in a comedy. or a spectacle movie.
when u watch a spectacle movie like Peter Jackson’s, there is a tool the filmmaker uses called “alienation”… to make u believe its all fantasy and distant from reality. so the more u believe king kong is larger than life and fake, the more u wil find it difficult to relate to his sentiments…
and since u seem to be an idiot, i shd also tell u that sentiment is different from melodrama. look it up.
