Singer-RJ-TV show host-psychologist-voiceover artiste and blogger Chinmayi talks to music director-songwriter-director-RJ Gangai Amaren. They had the most explosive Take Two we’ve have ever recorded and since the text transcript couldn’t do justice to the 83-minute-conversation, here’s the uncut version. Chinmayi countered his dynamite arguments quite sensitively. Especially, when he decided to criticise his maestro-brother Ilaiyaraja.
Listen to it with headphones for best results! Works fine on Firefox and if you have Quicktime. Some of my IE user friends seem to have problems. Any idea how to make it work across platforms/browsers?

Hey Sudish!
This comment has nothing to do with this post, just putting it here so that you see it!Sorry for that.
Me too waiting eaaagerlly for Thalaivars film! Just now a friend of mine sent snaps of a “mottai” superstar with line beard, studs and all!! Yipee!!!
By the way, why do some reviews in ‘Friday review’ carry your name as SUDISH KAMATH and some as R.SUDISH KAMATH. Dont tell me there are two of you there!!!
And one more thing, does this review appear all over India the same day as it does in Chennai? Read your reiview of “shootout…” and was wondering if the guys who acted in the movie would have read it (In mumbai)!!!
Hilarious. At least the start was cool, with you forcing a couple of words explaining to him what you want him and her to do… hehe
For all you IE users, download Firefox at http://www.firefox.com 🙂 … thats the best solution!
I liked the fact that GM was bayangara frank especially when he said “Balasubramaniam and Charan have been saying that Venkat was late (for shoots) but forgot to mention that there were times when he would complete the following day’s scenes as well..”
“Chennai 600028.. adu oru bore-u”.. Lol !!
Chinmayi – too much of Amma puranam.. could have avoided.

Hari:
Well, the desk sometimes credits me as R Sudhish Kamath. that’s possibly cuz we put our initials at the beginning of each story. My initials are SRK. 😀
Sagaro:
Well, I know my spoken Tamil sounds a little seth but as I keep talking it gets more and more cheri!
Nilambar:
Excellent suggestion! I agree!
Blogeswari:
Im not sure what you mean by Amma Puranam. If you’re saying she shows public display of affection/gratitude for her Mom, what could be wrong with that? I think the Moms of the world surely deserve more. Don’t you?
Dinesh:
Yes, I’ve done that now. Thank you.
hari:
The Hindu Chennai Edition goes to Mumbai and Im sure the producers do keep track of all the reviews. Not sure if all actors do. Im sure they are thick-skinned to react to critical reviews.
The more popular you are, the lesser you worry about what one specific critic has to say. Trust me, I have the unique privilege of having been/being on both sides of criticism, I know! 😉
blogeswari:
By now Im sure you know she’s sensitive about that sort of criticism. because such criticism is not based on her work, it’s personal. im sorry i cant allow personal remarks about a friend here. i hope you understand. thanks.
Sudhish
I understand her sentiments. Our friend is sensitive about any sort of criticism. You criticise her work, she doesnt take it either .. People have been raving about her voice sounding different in the song ‘Sahana’ . Little do they know that it has been tweeked (on post / machine ) and made to sound different.
The comments on her blog only go ga-ga..any slightest criticism on her work is not published. Agreed it is her blog.. but it is on the internet for public to read and comment on. And pal, is a public figure and yes, she needs to come terms with the fact that her work will be criticized.. she needs to have the guts to publish them on her blog. Well, I did post a couple of comments , not using any foul language , with a few remarks on her singing. Friend could not take it and it did not get published either. No regrets but like I mentioned before she needs to come terms with the fact that she will need to face the criticism as well as the appreciation that comes her way.
blogeswari:
just as you have every right to criticise, every person being criticised reserves/deserves the right to decide how to deal with it.
look at your blog space as your room/personal space. You want only your friends and well wishers there. You probably are uncomfortable to talk to people with unkind remarks in your space.
You rather fill it up with positive energy and people you like rather than keeping negativity including baseless allegations that you’ve made.
It’s a matter of personal choice I think. I don’t see anything wrong with people choosing what to publish and what to reject. It’s their space. Im sure you have your own blog to make public your thoughts. Besides, you can always email your criticism unless your objective is to let the world know how smart you are in criticising someone popular, which Im sure isnt your intention. Trust me, criticism always works when you do it the right way.
🙂
P.S: i thought i had rejected your comment because i didn’t want to allow my space for you to make unkind remarks on my friend. but since it got published unwittingly, I thought I should clarify my stance on this!
Cheers!
Agree with Sudhish here. Forget Criticism, I had once praised Mahathi in Chinmayee’s Comment box – along with a positive review of Chinmayi’s own performance. Only the latter got published.
But thats her choice , her blog. People flock there because they want to interact with her, chinmayi. If your comment there is read, it is not because you are blogeswari but because it is Chinmayi’s blog and people wanted to read her opinions. So, its fair game that she decides what goes in there. After all, you dont expect her to maintain a platform which is then used to criticise her, howsoever well-intentioned 🙂
