Public Apology to C.S. Amudhan, Shiva, Venkat Prabhu & Premgi Amaren

March 28, 2010 · by sudhishkamath

Public Apology

I wish to publicly apologise to Mr. C.S. Amudhan, Mr. Shiva, Mr. Venkat Prabhu and Mr. Premgi Amaren for any confusion or bitterness caused by your comments on my show Hands Up in Episodes 2 and 5 respectively.

I realised that started as an innocuous joke misfired big time because of miscommunication and egging done by me (though intended in good humour). Β I apologise for the bad taste it has left in all our mouths.

I urge both parties to please make peace. You both make irreverent films and any infighting is injurious to the health of humour in Tamizh Cinema.

I take full blame and responsibility for this misadventure and admit that these comments by either parties were provoked by me in the course of the show.

I hope we are able to end the matter right away now that I have apologised on behalf of both of you to each other.

I admit it was wrong to have poked fun at a superhit film like Tamizh Padam and a cult film like Chennai 28 and it was entirely my fault. It was not my intention to undermine anyone’s effort and hard work.

So kindly accept my apology and shake hands with each other.

Thank you.

    This is sad.
I mean, these guys got a taste of what they serve and this is what happens.
Really talented, all o em, but they got to rise from such boorish attitudes.

    :O :O :O
    What happened?
Did “Hands up” create a misunderstanding or small war of sorts between the Ch-28 and Tamizh Padam camps?
But wasnt it all in good fun?
And errrr. In ur defense you DID get them to sign a disclaimer right?

    For those wondering what happened:

    1. http://bit.ly/HandsUp2 – Shiva & Amudhan make fun of Chennai 28 & Goa

    2. http://bit.ly/HandsUp5 – Venkat Prabhu & Premgi make fun of Tamizh Padam.
Thought it was fair and square but…

    3. Amudhan: ” I AM OFFENDED. I AM HURT. I have lost all respect for Venkat Prabhu, Premji, Sudish Kamath & NDTV. To ridicule me is one thing, but to disrespect a defining, epic movie like Tamil Padam is unacceptable.”

    4. Amudhan: β€œThe one thing i can’t stand is people making fun of other’s work. Don’t u understand that it hurts feelings. It reflects very poorly on your upbringing. I did not expect this from you or venkat sir and premji sir.”

    5. Venkat Prabhu: β€œMr amudhan… Please kindly take things easy… Like our movies… When u took it on chennai 28 we were cool about it… So chill brother… Next time work on ur story screenplay and direction… U will get much better results… Just as a friendly suggestion…”

    6. My apology on http://sudhishkamath.com

Hope this settles it before it gets more ugly. πŸ™‚

    Updated:

    7. Venkat Prabhu: “Hey bro… I didn’t start this bro… I am still cool with the whole thingy… U didn’t have to appologise… It was never ur fault. When everyone took it lightly… How can he not… That’s what hurts me…”

    8. Amudhan: “Dear Sudhish, My main frustration is with people born into film families assuming that they own cinema. But i accept your apology”

    9. Amudhan: “Im concerned that i am often being taken out of context. Im sure i can sort out whatever differences i ve with Venkat in private”

    10. Venkat Prabhu: “Sudhish now i am really hurt. Why should he bring my family in. Have we ever behaved that way like we own the industry…Tell him to grow up… He has just started his career and with this attitude I am sorry to say this he is not going to go anywhere”

    11. Both parties agree to sort it out in private. Case closed. The End.

People, grow up! Stop sulking like Manoj Kumars.
But Sudu, watch out! You are a wonderfully gifted writer. But this is your first take as an anchor. And Broadcast TV can be a little different. Take my word: Meet RJ Balaji of Radio-Mirchi, Coimbatore sometime. He is really cool! His 7-11 am show gets the whole city talking.

Agree w/ you. Fair and square was what I thought too. By the way, wasn’t Tamil Padam all about ‘making fun of other’s work’?

IS tamil cinema heading like Hindi? Where you have ego clashes that hit bigger than box office hits?:-)

I perfectly feel that all that was done was done in the right spirit and purely for entertainment and should be taken lightly too.
I mean these people have made fun of many people in their movies & haven’t they thought how many people it would have hurt? This sets a real bad example and is childish. People should learn that what goes around comes around.
And Sudhish, brother take this as an experience and keep rocking on the show. Looking forward to the next episode.

    Hey!
After I saw Tamil Padam, did they change it to talking about the greats and best moments of Tamil Cinema?
If a director of a spoof movie doesn’t take things cool, who will???
Your apology was actually not necessary! Anyways, Efforts appreciated! πŸ™‚
Let Hands Up go on as usual. You’re getting better in each episode!

“To ridicule me is one thing, but to disrespect a defining, epic movie like Tamil Padam is unacceptable.” Hee haa hoo hahahah!
And i thought my jokes were bad.

Did he really say this on a serious note? How many ‘epic’ movies did he make fun of? Did anyone seriously get offended? Can’t believe such is the attitude of a director whose debut was a spoof movie.

Amudhan says the one thing he cant stand is people making fun of others work-well what is his movie then? classic case of success gone to the head.he should accept that everything said and done was in light heartedness and good spirit.and calling tamil padam an “epic movie” is probably the biggest spoof of them all.

amudhan has made a movie which pokes fun at different movies. but when other people do it about his movie, he gets angry? i mean if that isn’t the definition of hypocrisy,i dont know what is.

Can we just fuck this & move on…!
& Venkat! Can you please ignore this tiny little prick. Who cannot understand humor. Why the f#Q@ would you want to apologize and drag this thing on…! It was Trisha who should have gotten really mad… with her show …. But she did very well for herself… Please learn from her. (Both of you)

am not sure yet, whether amudhan is serious sayin his film a epic one. Dear amudhan, is the spoof story really yours? cant believe a man with such a COOL(!!) character directed Tamizh Padam.

amudhan still hv a long way to go..let him prove that he isnt a “one film wonder” first..yes, he has bravely done a full length spoof movie but to call that as a epic..heheh..”enna kodumai Sudhish ithu??”he made a movie which poked fun at others..but when others want him to taste his own medicine..he is over reacting..chill bro amudhan..

btw Sudhish..what a great publicity for your infant talk show..;-)and yeah I did not see there is something for you to apologize..but we all appreciate your efforts..keep rocking!!

If C.S. Amudhan should read this..then bro plz grow up..we didn’t expect this childish behaviour from you..?? Spoofing most of Tamil Cinema’s greatest hits and still getting hurt when someone else spoofs your own movie is stupidity and plz plz stop calling TP an ‘epic’ plz its hurting us we, can’t stand it πŸ˜‰ plz learn from Trisha and Venkat sir as they took it lightly..you still have a long way to go..don’t make yourself a one-timer n don’t take it to your head..n to remind u urself had said that you would ‘Njoy it’ when Sudhish asked ‘how would you feel if someone spoofed your movie’..so keep to your words bro..??

Btw Sudhish, there was no need for you to apologize anywhere in this, so chuck this n take this as publicity for ur show n continue with ‘Hands-Up’, am an avid fan n lookin forward to new episodes..so keep it coming..all the best!!
