Breaking News: Veerappan shot dead in encounter

October 19, 2004 · by sudhishkamath

People!

I just hear that Veerappan was shot dead with three of his men in an encounter with the STF.

Finally, the end of a legend?

Man, how I wish they had got him alive. Dead men tell no tales, just news stories for a week.

And with history always being Winners version, Veerappan will be recorded as a murderous bandit for eternity. But was he really as evil as the cops paint him out to be? Who were the politicians aiding him all these years? Was he just a puppet? We will never know!

For now I can only hope that this bit of information is a hoax and he’s captured alive someday!

its so sad that he’s dead.. he seems like a nicer person than the politicians who always wanted to capture him. i mean id rather support terrorist who stole from the rich and gave to the poor than politicians who stole from the poor and kept it to themselves..the wrong people are getting accused and punished.. There are some real pricks who sit there like they are some Mahatma, when they r just low two faced fuck heads!! When people like that rule then of course there will be many more verrappans and prabhakarans… im not saying that terriosm is correct in anyway.. im just saying that terrorists were created.. and the people who created them are still up there on their high chairs acting like angels… those are the people who need to get shot… they are the cause… and i hear Karuna Needhi was supporting V!

It seems true, cause the Blogworld’s running wild with it.
I felt a little let down that they didnt try capturing him alive. He ddin’t deserve this dog’s death. And second all of your points too.

    hi Anonymous!

That was a very silly comment!
Well, its always the nature of people to stray towards the person who is currently the sufferer. If we find a accident where a rick is run down by a car, we invariably support the rickshaw person! if the accident was between a car and a lorry, we immedaitely go to help the car wala! Now that Veerappan has been killed, we go to the support of Veerappan! WE surely would have supported the police when they said they will kill Veerappan, the day after he beheaded a police officer. Its just because we always try to help the one who is at the suffering end..

There might be number of politicians who are worse than Veerappan, but then he is no Mahatma either.. The politicos like him too deserve a end like him!

He defintely deserves a death like that man! he was no man when he killed soo many people! soo many elephants! soo many deers for his food! Of course I will sound a little inhuman, but then, I would defintely support the people who killed him! They did it for a decent cause atleast, not just to make money!!

Hmmm…that’s a thought – him being captured alive! Maybe he would have pointed a finger – oh ok, make them fingers – at all his backers, created a furore, spent a comfy time in jail (probably escaped too) and then started a political party! Who wants all this s***, as if we don’t have all this already? He he! 😉

Well, it all seems to be true and Veerappan is indeed dead.
Though there are no two opinions about whether he was evil or not, how evil was he really is the question!
Though Im not FOR saving Veerappan’s life, I do think that keeping him alive at least for a bit in custody could have unearthed a treasure of information on Who’s who of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and of course other militant/terrorist/smuggling networks in the world.

    Maapu,

Dead Men Don’t Tell Tales but those who live by the sword (on the gun) die by it. If at all there was an end for Veerappan, it had to come this way. Sad as it might seem, there was no other possibility.

Hats off to Vijay kumar, who I will rate as probably one of the most genuine persons I have seen.
